Why Chiropractic & ChiroThin?

Research on diabetes showed that compared with people without diabetes, those with diabetes were 70% more likely to have rheumatoid arthritis, 33% more likely to suffer from osteoarthritis, and 29% more likely to have osteoporosis.

Over time, when your weight slips into an unhealthy range, the risk of degenerative disc disease increases by 30 to 79 percent. As discs compensate for the pressure of extra weight, they can become herniated. This damage compresses the spaces between the bones in the spine, causing pinched nerves, sciatica and/or piriformis syndrome (muscle spasms that cause pain and can irritate the sciatic nerve). The pressure of extra weight can also aggravate osteoarthritis of the spine, and/or trigger the development of osteoarthritis.

The thing is though, excess weight is incredibly INFLAMMATORY to the body, HUGELY INFLAMMATORY. It is linked to everything from cancer, heart disease, blood pressure, fatigue, infertility, chronic pain, surgeries related to pain and deterioration. It is like asking a truck to pull a much too heavy load, the truck may be able to do it for a while, but it will deteriorate much faster than had it not. The two biggest impacts you can make on your own health are to keep your weight healthy, and stay mobile. For every 4 pounds you lose, you remove 16 pounds of pressure from your spine. In one study, the risk of developing osteoarthritis dropped 50% with each 11-pound weight loss.

So as you can see, the effect of being obese, overweight, or just carrying a little extra weight has an immense impact of your joints, your spine and your overall health.
